In 2024, political parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina made a total of 252 campaign promises, of which only six were fulfilled, while the same number are in progress. One promise was broken. Parties such as the SDP and NiP made the most promises in the area of economy, while specific promises related to energy projects, the Southern Interconnection Law, the fight against corruption, decarbonization, and education and healthcare. The transparency of the parliament’s work has improved, but no progress has been recorded in Euro-Atlantic integration.
NiP, SDP and SNSD made the most promises in the area of economy. True, SNSD, as the largest party from RS, did not have a campaign program and made only two promises at the state level, while DNS and United Srpska had one promise each.
“One promise was broken in the first year, and it related to lowering the threshold for entering the VAT system, or rather, increasing the threshold for entering the VAT system – which was a promise of Our Party,” stated Istinomjer researcher Dalio Sijah.
“Education, culture and sports at the state level are not doing too well. Little work has been done on university accreditation and on creating accreditation regulations,” emphasized Biljana Livančić, deputy editor of the Istinomjer platform.
Specific promises related to energy projects, laws on the southern interconnection, the fight against corruption, and education and healthcare.
The Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina held 62 sessions in the past two years, discussing 56 laws, of which 36 were adopted.
“The Parliamentary Assembly regularly publishes agendas for its sessions, and one of the challenges in monitoring this legislative process is the subsequent insertion of new laws on the agendas, without additional explanation or announcement,” said Elma Datzer, researcher at the Zašto ne platform.
The majority of laws discussed were in the field of economics. The transparency of the parliamentary work has improved, but no progress has been recorded in Euro-Atlantic integration. The monitoring was completed before the dismissal of Nenad Nešić, Federalna writes.
