President Pahor was interested in the course of preparation activities for the marking of the 20th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica.
The security situation and security during the celebration was discussed as well as the possibilities for financial support to the Organizing Committee, which will be resumed later on.
President Pahor expressed his desire to help the people of Srebrenica and agreed to start an initiative, together with the presidents of the former Yugoslav states, to finance the construction of the building of “Poleterac” kindergarten in Srebrenica.
The kindergarten building was built right after the Second World War, and was used for the needs of the Forest Management, then as a medical clinic, and at the end of the seventies changed its purpose and was used as a pre-school education institution.
This institution is attended by around 100 children, and more than 10 are still waiting.
Because of the inadequate space, regional departments of this kindergarten are formed in order to overcome the problem, and the Srebrenica Municipality has started a procedure for the preparation of project documentation for the construction of a new building.
Therefore, the initiative of the President of Slovenia is extremely important for the youngest residents of this municipality.
