Two weeks after the closing of the Olympic Games, the 15th Summer Paralympic Games (POI) were open in Rio, which will last until the 18th of September. Games were opened by the President of Brazil, Michel Temer.
The team of BiH has a total of 24 members, of which 14 are athletes, 12 in sitting volleyball and two in athletics.
At the opening ceremony, athlete Dzenita Klico carried the flag of BiH.
The national team of BiH in sitting volleyball, the most successful BH selection, will be seeking for the fifth Paralympic medal in Rio. In four consecutive performances in the finals, BH volleyball team won gold in Athens in 2004 and London in 2012, and silver in Sydney 2000 and Beijing in 2008.
Volleyball players of BiH on the Paralympic tournament, which starts on the 9th of September, will play in Group B with teams of Iran, Ukraine and China, while in the Group A are Germany, Egypt, Brazil and the United States.
BH team will start the competition with the match against Ukraine on the 10th of September at 2:30 pm Central European time, and two days later they will play against the selection of Iran at the same time, while on the 14th of September they will play against China. Semifinals will be held on the 16th and the finals on the 18th of September.
Shot putter Dzenita Klico will perform on the 10th of September, while Dzevad Pandzic will perform in the same discipline on the 16th of September.
