People with 50 Percent Disability are eligible for Employment Incentives for the First Time

The Fund for Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities has adopted new regulations that significantly expand the rights and opportunities for employment of persons with disabilities on the open labor market.

The most significant news is that persons with a determined degree of disability of 50 percent will for the first time be able to exercise the right to a financial incentive for employment under general conditions, as well as the right to participate in professional rehabilitation programs, announced the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.

The adoption of new regulations creates prerequisites for stronger inclusion of people with disabilities in the world of work, with simultaneous support to employers and improvement of professional rehabilitation measures.

In the coming period, the Fund will also announce public calls for a total value of 20.3 million BAM intended to finance the program of employment and professional rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.

Federal Minister of Labor and Social Policy Adnan Delić points out that the adoption of the new regulations is an important reform step forward in improving the rights of persons with disabilities.

“Amendments to the regulations of the Fund for Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities corrected a long-standing injustice against a large number of persons with disabilities who for years were excluded from the possibility of obtaining support for employment and professional rehabilitation. For the first time, persons with an established degree of disability of 50 percent are entitled to a cash incentive for employment under general conditions and the right to participate in professional rehabilitation programs. With this, we open new doors to an open labor market and send a clear message that disability should not be an obstacle for the right to work, dignity and economic independence. Society becomes fairer when it removes obstacles, not when it asks people to overcome them themselves. This is precisely why this decision represents an important step towards a more open, accessible and fair labor market for people with disabilities,” said Delić.
