A condition for a ceasefire in the Ukrainian conflict is that the US and the West stop supplying weapons to Ukraine, said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
“If we are talking about a ceasefire, then what should we do with the daily deliveries of weapons to Ukraine from the US and European countries?” Peskov asked.
He noted that if these deliveries are not stopped, Kiev could use the ceasefire to train new troops and rest those currently fighting.
“So why should we give Ukraine such an advantage?” Peskov asked.
Peskov dismissed a reporter’s remark that Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly does not want the conflict to end, Interfax reported.
“President Putin is doing everything to resolve the conflict through peaceful diplomatic means,” Peskov stressed, adding that the lack of such means forced Russia to continue the military operation.
