Petition on Facebook Site for a Monument to Uncle Mišo

Just a day after the death of Husein Hasani, known as Uncle Mišo, the only street shoe cleaner in Sarajevo and a true symbol of the city, a petition was launched to erect a memorial on the place where he sat and worked.

The initiative was launched on Facebook. The petition, addressed to the city and municipal governments, has already been signed by hundreds of citizens, and the goal is to gather 100.000 signatures to support the idea of a monument to Uncle Mišo on the first anniversary of his death.

We recall that Uncle Mišo died on Monday at 83 years old. He worked as a shoe cleaner for 60 years, first on Marijin Dvor, and 20 years ago he moved to Titova Street.
