Plenum of Citizens of Sarajevo Presented Demands to Cantonal Assembly and FB&H Institutions

plenum_sarajevoThe Plenum of the citizens of Sarajevo that took place last night in Dom Mladih presented the demands that would be send to the Cantonal Assembly for consideration.

The demands will be sent to the Assembly of Canton Sarajevo and the FB&H institutions with the deadline of 31 March as the beginning of implementation.

Some of the demands sent to the Sarajevo Canton Assembly are:

Development of social welfare of the citizens of Sarajevo Canton within a deadline of 60 days, determination of financial assistance to unemployed people who are in need in the minimum amount of one-third of a monthly salary in Canton Sarajevo, the immediate drawing up of effective programs of employment and urgent implementation of the legal penalties on employers for unpaid contributions of social and health insurance.

The resignation of the FB&H government is the first of the demands for the FB&H institutions. Among the ten demands in this segment are: suspension of the criminal prosecution of all participants at the protests in the FB&H, the suspension of the privatization process and the sell-off of public goods, and an audit of all privatizations done until now and the prosecution of those responsible, as well as determining the salary of elected officials at the level of two average salaries in the FB&H.

There are also demands to launch initiatives to the B&H Parliament for an amendment to the Law on VAT, with the goal to introduce differentiated VAT rates, urgent harmonization of pensions with growth of the average wage in the FB&H, and the current suspension of borrowing from local and international banks and funds for the lending of public spending in the FB&H.

It was announced that the clearly formulated demands of these groups would be sent to the relevant government institutions. The next Plenum is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 19 March in Dom Mladih.
