Residents of Jajce, as well as numerous tourists, spend their free time enjoying nature and the views of Pliva Lake and the popular watermills.
The large and small Pliva Lakes, located in the Pliva Valley just a few kilometers from the center of Jajce, are gems of central Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
Pliva Lakes have always attracted tourists, athletes, and nature enthusiasts, who this year can enjoy a rich array of activities, including boat rides.
The beauty of Pliva Lake is further enhanced by the watermills made from oak wood in 1562.
Twenty watermills, built on the tufa limestone barrier between the large and small Pliva Lakes, greatly contribute to the ambiance of the historic town of Jajce and showcase the local carpentry skills and traditional building methods.
In 2009, the cultural landscape – Pliva Lakes with the complex of watermills on the Pliva near Jajce – was declared a national monument of BiH.
