Nicki Minaj was arrested in Amsterdam on suspicion of carrying marijuana in her personal belongings while at the airport on her way to Manchester for a scheduled performance.
Marijuana is legal in the Netherlands, however, flying with the drug is illegal because planes in flight fall under federal jurisdiction.
The singer is currently on her “Pink Friday 2” world tour. Multiple times, via social media and videos, Minaj has denied breaking any laws.
Minaj recorded her conversations with local police while questioning the reasons behind her arrest. The singer also shared live updates of the happening events through her official Twitter and Instagram accounts.
“The police said they had to unload all her luggage and search everything,” the pilot of her plane told her.
When she asked why, the pilot said that the policeman requested it because she had recorded it.
“They were trying to stop me from coming to my show. They took my bags before I saw them. Now they say they’re waiting for customs. This is what it looks like when employees are paid big money to try to sabotage a tour after all else has failed. All what they did is illegal,” she stated on her social networks.
In another update, she said the pilot had asked to remove her Instagram post.
“Now they said they found weed and another group of people have to come here to measure the pre-rolls. Mind you they took my bags without my consent. My security has already informed them that the pre-rolls belong to them. Oh yeah , and the pilot wants me to take down my Instagram post,” she wrote.
