Police officers, Adnan Duhović and Nermin Džindo, who were arrested yesterday, have been handed over to the jurisdiction of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Sarajevo Canton.
They will be held for 24 hours and within that legal period, the acting prosecutor will decide on a possible proposal for detention.
Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton yesterday arrested Duhović and Džindo, police officers of the Center Police Department, for corruption-related crimes.
More precisely, they are suspected of the crimes of accepting gifts or other forms of benefit and abuse of position or authority.
Duhović and Džindo were arrested as part of an operation codenamed “Abstergo”, which was carried out on the order and under the supervision of the acting prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Sarajevo Canton.
The Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office charges them with having asked drivers who committed traffic violations, mainly for money, during traffic controls, in order not to sanction them, that is, to issue a misdemeanor warrant.
