Nine individuals have been arrested in Spain after the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) called on its followers to attack the Real Madrid football team’s bus towards the end of the club football season.
According to the media, the organization I’lam, associated with ISIS and propagating their orders, was involved, and the arrest of nine people was carried out by the Spanish secret service.
The attack on the Real Madrid bus never occurred, but the directive was clear.
“My dear brother. Wait near the players’ arrival point. Target them along with their fans,” was the message from ISIS.
Organizations linked to the militant group ISIS had threatened attacks in Paris, Madrid, and Munich during the Champions League, and German authorities continue to fear potential attacks during EURO 2024.
