The BiH Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ana Trišić-Babić met with the President of the UN Security Council Ambassador and Vitaly Čurkin, the permanent representative of the Russian Federation in the UN at the 57th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
They spoke of the good cooperation between BiH and the Russian Federation in the Security Council of the UN in the period of non-permanent membership of BiH for 2010-2011.
Čurkin stressed the positive contribution of the BiH delegation in the work of the Security Council, and said that BIH membership would be of great importance for the UN and for BiH.
They are convinced that BiH would continue to lend its support and contribution in the work of the UN.
Good bilateral relations between BiH and Russia were confirmed, and with the intent to further deepen tem with mutual respect and appreciation.
Trišić-Babić took the opportunity to further emphasize the fact that BiH strives to exert its efforts in order to fulfill its commitments to the UN in a timely manner and in all segments.
She informed the President of the UN Security Council that BiH has so far participated in the international troops for UN peace operations and expressed the interest of BiH to increase its participation in this domain.
Čurkin has shown interest for the economic and political situation in BiH and the region, and having in mind the upcoming chairmanship of Russia to Group 20 (G20).
Trišić-Babić emphasized the current slow progress of BiH on the path to EU integration and highlighted the importance of an efficient solution to get out of the current situation.
