The president of the Organizing Committee for marking the 23rd anniversary of the genocide, Nermin Alivukovic, stated that everything is ready for marking the anniversary of the genocide committed over Bosniaks from Srebrenica in July 1995.
“When it comes to preparations for marking the 23rd anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks from Srebrenica, I can say that they are almost completed. A total of 35 graves were excavated, and other preparations regarding the parking lots are currently in the process of finalization and we will be ready to accept all the guests who will come here on July 11,” said Alivukovic.
“Recently, in the period when we are marking the 23rd anniversary of the genocide, we are hearing some stories that we should stop talking about genocide on July 11, that we are boring with this story and that it is time to talk about some other things. I would like to state that as long as there are families of those who were killed in the Srebrenica genocide, that story will not stop,” stated Alivukovic.
As he noted, between 20,000 and 30,000 guests are expected to mark the anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica this year, and they will pay tribute to innocent victims.
Alivukovic also recalled that Peace March started from Nezuk to Potocari, and more than 6,000 people took part in it.
Remains of 35 victims are ready for the collective funeral that will take place in Potocari on July 11, this year.
Around 6,575 genocide victims found their eternal peace in the Memorial Center – Potocari so far, and they are still searching for about a thousand victims.
