The Federal Ministry of Trade informed the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) at Friday’ssession in Sarajevo about the implementation of the conclusion of June 23rd regarding the inspection of the state of stocks and price calculations of manufacturers and traders of firewood and pellet.
Then the Ministry’s information on the need to analyze these prices in the FBiH was adopted, and in accordance with the mandate, the Federal Market Inspectorate carried out inspections at 14 producers and traders of pellets, briquettes, firewood cladding and split firewood.
As a reminder, the Government of the Federation reacted as soon as there were shortages and rising prices of pellets and firewood in BiH, due to the increased demand of the European market for these products, which is primarily the result of the war in Ukraine and the search for alternatives to Russian gas before the upcoming heating season.
As Federal Minister of Trade Zlatan Vujanovic reported to the Government, the inspectors found a number of irregularities and deficiencies in the majority of controlled entities, related to lack of appropriate documentation accompanying the goods, as well as not updating trade finance books.
”In addition to other identified deficiencies, it is clear from the report of the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs (FUZIP) that manufacturers and sellers of heating materials, using the newly created situation of a general increase in the prices of goods and services caused, raised prices unrealistically high, while not showing social responsibility and social sensitivity in the current moment of global inflation and reduction in the purchasing power of the population,” it was pointed out in the information submitted by Minister Vujanovic.
As he announced, in that case, the Ministry will propose to the Government of the Federation new measures to protect citizens, not excluding the most restrictive legal measures, and a request to extend the duration of the Decision of the Council of Ministers of BiH on banning the export of heating materials until the end of this year.
