Professor Kazaz on Schmidt’s Decision: BiH is stabilizing!

Christian Schmidt, the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), used the Bonn powers and suspended the Law on Immovable Property Used for the Functioning of the Republika Srpska (RS) Public Authority.

The reason for using the Bonn powers is the Law on Immovable Property, which was adopted by the National Assembly of the RS (NARS), and which is in contradiction with the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH. As he explained, he suspended the law until the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH.

Enver Kazaz, a political analyst and professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, said that the High Representative’s decision to finally use the Bonn powers indicates that the influence of the Russian Federation in BiH after the war in Ukraine and the influence of Milorad Dodik as Putin’s player is minimal in BiH.

”The High Representative’s decision implies that BiH, due to the war in Ukraine, is stabilizing and that at this moment we have the opportunity to constitute a new form of government in BiH, hoping that Greater Serbia nationalism with Dodik as the lead person is finally stopped and secessionist ideas are over, at least at this point when it comes to the republican-Serbian nationalist project,” professor Kazaz stated for Avaz.
