Last night at the Hrvatski Dom Herceg Stjepan Kosača in Mostar, the renowned ensemble from Seville, Puerto Flamenco, performed the “PURO” program, kicking off a series of three performances in Bosnia and Herzegovina. After Mostar, Puerto Flamenco will perform on Saturday, September 20th, at the Bosnian Cultural Center in Sarajevo at 8:00 PM, and on Sunday, September 21st, at the Bosnian Cultural Center in Tuzla at 7:30 PM. The performances are taking place as part of the Dansar Dance and Arts Festival.
“It was truly fantastic in Mostar. A full hall, ovations from the audience, and a warm welcome. We are more than happy with how everything went, and we truly enjoyed it. Thank you, Mostar; we can’t wait to come to Sarajevo, and then to Tuzla. See you soon,” emphasized the main protagonist of the Puerto Flamenco ensemble, Francesca “La Chica” Grima.
Puerto Flamenco was founded in 2004 in Seville, and its artistic expression combines traditional flamenco with a contemporary approach to stage performance. The “PURO” program, whose name in Spanish means pure, original, and authentic, brings together dance, vocals, guitar, and percussion. Delicately crafted choreography and musical compositions leave room for improvisation and direct communication among the artists on stage, which gives each performance its unique expression. The artists of the ensemble performed on numerous international stages and festivals, including Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla, Festival de Jerez, WOMAD, and the Montreux Jazz Festival.
“By hosting the ensemble Puerto Flamenco, we are expanding the program of the Dansar festival outside Sarajevo for the first time. We want to enable audiences in different cities to experience international artists and bring closer the diversity of dance art. After Mostar, we are looking forward to upcoming elections and meeting audiences in Sarajevo and Tuzla,” emphasized Enis Avdić, co-organizer of the Dansar Festival.
This year’s Dansar Festival and the arrival of the renowned artists from Spain were supported by the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the Embassy of Spain in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the City of Sarajevo, and the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board – Visit Sarajevo.
