The streets of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina were painted in pink today as part of the 19th “Race for the Cure” event. The largest socially responsible event in Bosnia and Herzegovina gathered more than 12,000 participants this year, and thanks to the citizens’ unity and friends of the project, a record-breaking amount of 290, 000 BAM was raised so far.
Within the “Think Pink – Together We Are One” organization, Sarajevo hosted visitors from 60 cities and municipalities across the country.
The emotional highlight of the day was a traditional walk led by more than 700 heroines in pink shirts – women who have beaten or are fighting breast cancer and whose life triumph sent the most powerful message about the importance of the fight and hope. Today’s event also gathered the members of 30 patient associations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the “Think Pink” organization.
All funds raised from the applications will be directed towards the work of the “Think Pink – Together We Are One” association, directly financing the crucial support programs: free mammogram screenings in rural and remote areas across Bosnia and Herzegovina, continuous psychosocial support for affected women, first-aid kits for every newly operated woman, and educational campaigns aimed at prevention and raising public awareness, with a special emphasis on younger generations.
The event also provided a range of sports and entertainment activities, including a children’s race and a race for recreational runners. The fitness and Zumba instructors, Lejla Šebić and Jasmin Begović’s team, as well as Adi Čizmo, were responsible for the great energy and the warm-up. The performance by DJ Mahir Beathouse further rounded out the atmosphere, while the youngest participants enjoyed spending time with Selma Krifica in a cheerful children’s corner.
The “Think Pink – Together We Are One” Organization thanked all participants, sponsors, media partners, and project ambassadors who, with their selfless contributions, stood alongside this humanitarian movement.
