Far from politics and everyday events, young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia who work with the Red Cross in their communities gathered in Majevica, as part of the “Youth Summer School and Protection and Rescue Service”, organized by the Red Cross of the City of Tuzla and the City Headquarters of Civil Protection. In addition to socializing, the gathering had another goal – the preparation of volunteers for responding to natural and other disasters.
Tuzla, Lukavac, Brcko, Novi Sad and Osijek are the cities from which the volunteers gathered within the unique international camp in Tuzla. The primary goal – education on protection and rescue in unforeseen situations was fulfilled, which was also one of the reasons for joining the Red Cross.
Volunteering and helping others in case of need is what united these young people, who are involved in the projects of this humanitarian organization almost every day.
Red Cross volunteers always show humanity, courage and perseverance and are always determined to help those in need.
“That’s why I said, addressing them, that this red and white color means life both to me and to them, because blood is red, and without it there is no life, and the white color means helping people in peace, and that’s the essence.” pointed out Slavko Stjepic, assistant mayor for Civil Protection of the City of Tuzla.
As part of the international camp of the Red Cross, there was also an exercise for the participants, an evaluation, and an agreement on celebrating the World First Aid Day on September 9.
