The remains of at least one victim of the past war were exhumed today in the premises of the Sarajevo defence industry plant “Zrak”.
“The remains, which were on the surface of the field, were found by passers-by, and the police and the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina were immediately alerted,” it is stated.
According to the information provided by the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, these are most likely victims who disappeared in 1992 in the Sarajevo area.
After the exhumation, the remains of the victims will be transferred to the premises of the cemetery “Gradska groblja” Visoko, where criminal-technical and forensic-medical processing will follow.
Bone samples will also be excluded, with the aim of identifying the victim through the DNA method.
“In the coming days, the search of that locality, i.e. the terrain overgrown with bushes, will be continued in the search for the remains of the victims,” announced the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
