Adisa Omerović from Srebrenica announced on Facebook that her husband Mirsad was taken into custody by the members of the Ministry of Interior of the RS because of the indignation they expressed on the occasion of the shameful concert in front of the church in that city on the day of commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica.
On the night from Wednesday to Thursday, she was at the police station where she was told that her husband was detained by order of the public prosecutor and that he was in custody and that he would have more information today.
The Omerović family is now looking for a good lawyer, and Adisa points out that they are currently going through one of the most difficult agonies since they returned to Potočari.
“After the publication of one of the portals in which my husband is brought into context in the most heinous way, I sense that the reason for the arrest is the indignation we expressed regarding yesterday’s shameful concert in front of the church. My children are upset and we are worried about our safety. I invite all of you who swear to Srebrenica and the Bosniaks, who have any influence in society to help me in the fight for truth and justice. Tonight it is my husband, tomorrow it can be any of you. My husband survived the camp in Šljivovica where he spent 8 months and 10 days, we will survive this too, God willing,” she stated on Thursday evening.
A little earlier, on the Facebook page “Despotovina”, whose members deny the genocide in Srebrenica and construct the events of the war in their own way, they stated that “SPC in Srebrenica is under attack by extremists” and that Mirsad Omerović was known to the public of Bratunac and Srebrenica earlier, when he “disturbed liturgy on the foundations of the temple of St. Sisoj in Potočari, playing loud Islamic music”
“Now he lacks 50 volunteers to go to church,” they stated with a screenshot from social networks.
Despite the fact that they deny the adjudged genocide, which automatically violates the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, they even accused the chief imam of the Mejlis of the Islamic Community (MIZ) of Srebrenica, Damir Pestalić that he is guilty of raising tensions only because he condemned the organization of a concert on the day of the funeral in Potočari as part of the commemoration of the 28th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, Klix.ba reports.
