At the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Sarajevo University Clinical Center, for the first time, a reverse shoulder prosthesis installation was performed on patient Ajka Hodzic (1963) from Bihac, completely independently by Dr. Walid Suliman and Dr. Faruk Lazovic.
According to Dr. Faruk Lazovic, the patient underwent surgery to install a reverse shoulder endoprosthesis.
“The patient suffered a fracture of the proximal humerus (shoulder) nine years ago and since then she has been completely limited in her movements. This injury made it impossible for her to carry out standard activities, which affected the patient’s quality of life,” explained Lazovic.
He points out that previously the same surgery was performed on several occasions at the Sarajevo University Clinical Center Orthopedic Clinic, but by visiting orthopedists.
Head of the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology Djemil Omerovic points out that the medical teams at Sarajevo University Clinical Center perform the most complex surgical procedures.
“Our patients are satisfied and that is confirmed by their praises. We are proud of the medical staff who are constantly being educated so that they can fully perform complex surgical procedures,” emphasizes Omerovic.
General Director of Sarajevo University Clinical Center Sebija Izetbegovic pointed out that the Sarajevo University Clinical Center Orthopedic Clinic follows the most modern methods of treating patients.
“We are expanding the range of health services, introducing new procedures and operations that have never been done before in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). With this work, we directly affect the reduction of the number of patients who are transferred for treatment outside of our country. We try to ensure that after such procedures, patients start a normal life very quickly and return to their daily activities,” Izetbegovic said, as reported by the Sarajevo University Clinical Center Press Service.
