Right-wing Candidate Karol Nawrocki wins Poland’s Presidential Election

Conservative nationalist candidate Karol Nawrocki, a historian, has won Poland’s presidential election, ahead of liberal Warsaw mayor Rafal Tchaskowski, the National Electoral Commission announced this morning.

According to the Commission, Nawrocki won 50.89 percent of the vote, while Tchaskowski won 49.11 percent in the second round of the presidential election held on Sunday.

The Agence France-Presse reported that the election results highlighted the polarization in the NATO and European Union member state.
