Roma football club fired coach Daniele De Rossi on Wednesday, which was a surprising move despite the “Gialorossi” being without a win in the first four matches of the Italian league.
De Rossi, the former Roma captain, was hired in January to replace the sacked Jose Mourinho and impressed so much in the second half of last season that his contract was extended in June until 2026-2027.
“The club’s decision was made in the best interest of the team, to return to the desired path as soon as possible at a time when the season is still in its early stages,” announced Roma.
Added:
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Daniele, who will always be at home at the club, for the work he has done with passion and dedication in recent months.”
Roma, which welcomes Serie A leader Udinese on Sunday, states that “communication regarding the team’s technical guidelines will follow”.
