RS Assembly Supported Radmanović’s Objection on Revocation of Pećanac

pecanacLast night in the RS National Assembly, more than two-thirds voted on the adoption of the validation of statements by member of the B&H Presidency Nebojša Radmanović, based on the decision to withdraw from office by the General Consul of B&H in the US (Chicago) Brane Pećanc, destructive to the vital interest of the RS.

With this decision, the revocation of Pećanc will not take effect.

The session was not attended by members of the Club of SDPBiH and SDA in this entity parliament, who believe that Pećanc violated the code of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of B&H from 2004, which specifies the behavior during public appearances in all consular-diplomatic missions of B&H in the world.

In this document, it states that ‘it is obligatory to refrain from statements that have a nationalistic character, as well as those that are recognized as coming from only one people and entity’.

Members of the opposition from Serb parties supported Radmanović, but they also expressed the views that he did not achieve constitutional protection of the RS and the Serb people in the realization of their interests, with their omission and passive attitudes in several cases.

On 13 February, the B&H Presidency did not reach a consensus, and with two votes for (Željko Komšić and Bakir Izetbegović) and one vote against (Nebojša Radmanović) made a decision to dismiss Brane Pećanc from office.

Within 72 hours, Radmanović asked the RS National Assembly to make a statement on this issue, citing the vital interest of this entity.
