European defense without the United States (U.S.) “will not function,” said NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte after an informal meeting with European leaders in Brussels.
Rutte added that neither NATO nor any other similar organization in terms of defense will function without the U.S.
He emphasized that he is “absolutely convinced” that the Alliance can handle trade tensions between the U.S. and Canada, adding that this issue will not affect NATO’s collective defense.
Rutte attended an informal defense gathering in Brussels last night with European Union (EU) leaders and the United Kingdom (UK)Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
