Sarajevo defeats Zeljeznicar in the 161st Eternal Derby on its 80th Birthday

FK Sarajevo emerged victorious in the 161st “Eternal Derby” against Željezničar.

Last night at the Koševo Stadium, Sarajevo defeated Željezničar 2–0, marking the club’s 80th anniversary with a major win.

The match was scheduled to kick off symbolically at 19:46, but the start was delayed due to flares lit by fans of both teams. For the same reason, the match was interrupted several times, resulting in nearly half an hour of stoppage time – during which both goals were scored.

The hosts enjoyed more possession throughout the match and created more scoring opportunities, but the Željezničar goalkeeper made several key saves to keep his net clean.

However, Abdulahović finally conceded in the 102nd minute. Following a scramble in front of the visitors’ goal, the ball fell to Galešić, who fired a shot from the edge of the penalty area; the ball deflected off a Željezničar player and found the back of the net.

Kyeremeh sealed the final score in the 114th minute, rising highest in the penalty area to head home a corner kick delivered by Kuprešak, beating Abdulahović.

Ultimately, Sarajevo triumphed on a difficult, rain-soaked pitch, securing their fifth win of the season. This result solidifies their hold on third place, now five points clear of Željezničar, who sit in fifth, Fena writes.
