The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, visited Sarajevo International Airport today. Minister Konaković was accompanied by the Minister of Economy of the Sarajevo Canton, Zlatko Mijatović.
The visit was organized with the aim of supporting the importance and work of Sarajevo International Airport, and Minister Konaković and his interlocutors discussed the progress and importance of improving the work, development and growth of Sarajevo Airport, giving full support to the activities planned for 2025.
Minister Konaković expressed his satisfaction with the significant increase in the frequency of flights planned for 2025, welcomed the plans to continue expanding the existing flight network, emphasizing that this is a joint success of Sarajevo International Airport, the Government of Sarajevo Canton, and its competent institutions, that it is the product of joint and coordinated action, and that it contributes to strengthening the tourist offer, supports economic development and results in improving the image of Sarajevo, but also of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole.
The Minister of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, Zlatko Mijatović, said that through the incentive policies implemented by the Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton in cooperation with the Sarajevo International Airport and the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, extraordinary results have been achieved.
“Record passenger numbers and an expanded network of 16 lines in 2024 are just the beginning. The planned 23 subsidized lines for 2025 and 2026 will further improve the connectivity of Sarajevo Canton with the world, reducing seasonality and providing citizens with more affordable travel options,” said Mijatović.
“We are pleased to host the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Elmedin Konaković, and the Minister of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, Mr. Zlatko Mijatović, today at the Sarajevo International Airport. This visit confirms the importance that Sarajevo International Airport has as a key factor in the development of the economy and tourism of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We introduced the ministers to our current projects and future plans and discussed the possibilities of cooperation in strengthening the connectivity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sarajevo with the world, as well as attracting new investments.
“We are very pleased that Minister Konaković recognized the potential of Sarajevo Airport, which can compete with many world and European airports in terms of service quality and capacity,” said the acting director of Sarajevo International Airport, Sanin Ramezić, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH announced.
