Sarajevo Minister of Culture meets Ambassador of Kingdom of Spain

The Minister of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton Kenan Magoda held a meeting with H.E. with the ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Marija Molina, during which they discussed the strengthening of cultural and sports cooperation, as well as the numerous historical ties that connect Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Kingdom of Spain.

Sarajevo and Spain are connected by much more than diplomacy. It is a connection through culture, art, sports and common values. A special place is occupied by the Olympic heritage – from the Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo in 1984 to the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992, when the two cities left an indelible mark in world Olympic history.

During the meeting, concrete cooperation projects in the field of culture were discussed, especially connecting institutions such as the Sarajevo National Theater with Spanish cultural institutions, exchange of artists, development of contemporary and conceptual art, but also joint projects to preserve the Olympic spirit.

“We are connected with Spain by a special emotion. Sarajevo and Barcelona are the cities that best understand how much Olympic values can change the identity of a city and leave a legacy for generations to come. Our obligation is to preserve that legacy, but also to build new bridges of cooperation through culture and sports,” Minister Magoda said.

The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton continues to strengthen international cooperation with the aim of promoting Sarajevo as a European center of culture, art and sports.
