This year, the City of Sarajevo will also help the residents of East Sarajevo due to the shortage and supply them with drinking water.
As the Minister of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction, and Environmental Protection of Canton Sarajevo (CS) Enver Hadziahmetovic said, the area has a problem with a lack of water due to severe droughts and a reduced flow of drinking water from the source.
For this reason, the Communal Enterprise ‘Vodovod i Kanalizacija A.D.’ East Sarajevo requested help from the relevant Ministry and the Cantonal Public Utility Company ‘Vodovod i Kanalizacija Sarajevo’ for the supply of drinking water for the residents of East Sarajevo.
“Cantonal Public Utility Company ‘Vodovod i Kanalizacija Sarajevo’, like last year, obliged the request of the citizens of East Sarajevo. The wells in Sarajevsko polje are full, which means that the losses in the system are reduced, and this is the result of the timely elimination of defects and the reconstruction of the pipeline as part of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) loan,” said Minister Hadziahmetovic.
The Minister told the citizens of CS that despite the severe drought, there will be no water reduction and that the water quality is in accordance with the prescribed norms and standards.
To recall, Sarajevo obliged the request of the citizens of East Sarajevo by supplying water last year as well. That was the first time, after 25 years, that the CS did not buy water from East Sarajevo, but rather the opposite, Klix.ba reports.
