Interested dog owners with unwanted behavior or a new dog with whom they want to establish good communication and control, can visit the website dogstrust.ba where they can fill out the form. In 7 to 10 days, they can expect a call with time scheduling, and training takes 3 to 5 weeks, depending on the dog. The training is done every working day – on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10 am and 4 pm, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 pm to 7 pm.
The school was opened at the site of Pet hotel in Rakovica, and according to Sanel Becirovic, it is part of the activities of Dogs Trust which fits in the effort to assist local authorities in establishing a sustainable system for managing population of dogs like in all major cities in Europe.
“School will help by reducing the number of abandoned dogs as stray dogs, and it will reduce the risk for the community because most incidents involving dogs are related to the uncontrolled owners’ dogs,” said Becirovic.
Dogs Trust is conducting mass sterilization of dogs in order to stabilize the population of dogs in Sarajevo, and the results are more than visible.
“We also have training for veterinarians in order for all local communities to organize activities of sterilization. Educations in primary schools in Sarajevo, Livno, Banja Luka and Zvornik will also be continued in order for children to learn how to be a responsible dog owner,” concluded Becirovic.
