We accept compromise, but not compromising, SDP president Nermin Nikšić said on his Facebook profile, ahead of today’s session of the presidency of this party. He also spoke about the formation of the government at the FBiH level, and why he decided on a coalition with the HDZ of Bosnia and Herzegovina and not with the SDA, but also about who has big political appetites. He said that the SDP chose a more difficult path, with fewer functions, but they are determined to establish power. He is completely convinced that it is not even advisable for democracy to have all power exclusively in the hands of one party.
“All those who claim that in that combination, using the unenviable position in which the SDA is in, the SDP would get significantly more functions than they will get in the constellation we decided on, are probably right. For some parties, entering the government is the goal, and for some it is a means to implement the policies and promises they made to the citizens. We accepted that more difficult path even though we knew that it also entailed arduous negotiations with pauses that received a smaller number of votes, but have big appetites and are prone to provocations and blackmail to leave with the parties, which we resolutely refused. We accepted that difficult path even though we knew that because of it we would receive heavy blows, attacks, accusations and threats from those who refuse to accept defeat and who have been in power for so long that the very thought of going to the opposition causes them indescribable fear and panic. Our good will towards all those who do not know how to appreciate it has its limits”, wrote Nikšić.
