A dog who is a great help to the rescue team of the Civil Protection Administration of the Republika Srpska (RS) in their humane mission in Turkey injured her paw in the field the day before yesterday while rescuing a girl from under the ruins.
In the rescue of a girl who was alive under the rubble, Tora marked exactly where to break through. Unfortunately, she hurt her paw in that way, but she was at the vet and will be back in action today.
“Tora is very useful. That twenty-kilogram dog replaces thirty people in the search for the missing. Her nose has a 90 percent chance of finding something in the ruins, while a human has a thirty percent chance of finding something in the ruins,” Aleksandar Naumovic, search dog trainer and guide, pointed out.
He explained that Tora can move quickly through the ruins, crawl into a small space, and thus provide enormous assistance in the search.
Namely, due to the devastating earthquakes in the south of Turkey, over 37,000 people have lost their lives so far, and it is estimated that many more lifeless bodies will be found under the ruins, Klix.ba reports.
