A source claims that Kate Middleton had a private meeting with King Charles III regarding her family preparing to succeed the 75-year-old British monarch sooner than expected, as he has spent nearly the entire year battling cancer.
Charles was diagnosed following surgery at a London clinic in early 2024 and is still fighting the disease.
While the British royal family continues to care for their monarch, they are preparing for all outcomes, including his passing. Prince William has been given additional roles, and now it seems that 43-year-old Kate has also been briefed about the succession.
“She and Charles had a private meeting about her stepping up earlier than anticipated. As you can imagine, the bond between the two is incredibly close. They have been a source of comfort to each other through their battles with cancer. This is also why Charles has made an effort to give her enough space to recover and prepare for the inevitable moment when he and Camilla pass the baton,” a source said.
Upon the king’s death, William will ascend to the throne, and his wife will become Queen Consort, so preparations are underway for the transition period during which Camilla will also become the Queen Dowager.
