Hezbollah announced that four of its members, including the field commander, were killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah said Talib Sami Abdullah, one of the top men, was killed, along with Muhammed Huseyin Sabra, Ali Selim Sufan and Huseyin Kasim Hamid.
Lebanese local media reports stated that Abdullah was born in 1969 in the village of Adshit in southern Lebanon and was one of Hezbollah’s leading commanders in the southern region.
Abdullah and other Hezbollah members were killed in an overnight Israeli airstrike on the village of Juvaya, about 15 kilometers from the border.
Tensions are high along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid occasional exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006, AA writes.
