Several fires are still active in Herzegovina today. The worst is on the fire site on Mount Cvrsnica, where the canadair of the Republic of Croatia and the helicopters of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina operated yesterday, and the fire continues to threaten the Blidinje Nature Park.
The commander of the fire department from Posusje, Mario Cutura, said that the situation at the fire site this morning is very difficult, the fire is spreading in all directions, and that he expects the help of helicopters of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Canadians from Croatia, because the terrain is inaccessible.
Firefighters and volunteers need to walk about two hundred meters to the fire site.
A forest fire is still active in the area of Boracko Lake in the municipality of Konjic, where the helicopter of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina is still helping to extinguish the fire.
They state that inaccessible and mined terrain is burning.
The fire above Boracko Lake does not threaten buildings, but more than 60 hectares of forest have been burned.
Several small fires are also active in the area of Mostar, Cituk, Capljina and Stolac where low vegetation is burning, but the fires are under control and do not endanger buildings, the Civil Protection of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton stated.
Bileca firefighters extinguish all the fires that were active in this municipality, said the commander of the Bileca Fire Department, Milan Sulovic.
According to him, the fire in the area of Drakuljica last night threatened to endanger the main road Bileca Trebinje.
“The firefighters managed to repair it, as well as the fire in Gornji Davidovici,” said Sulovic.
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Croatia announced that the air firefighting forces have been engaged in Croatia very often in recent days, but they emphasized that this does not prevent them from providing assistance to neighboring countries when they need it the most.
When it comes to the damage caused by this fire, Bradaric said earlier that it is difficult to estimate exactly how much area is burning, but he added that it is certainly not below 20 hectares because a lot of pine forest has burned.
According to the latest information from the Federal Operations Center, the fire is still active in the area of Boracko Lake. Firefighters and members of the Konjic Forest Service are on the ground, but help is still needed in extinguishing the air.
