Ships with Humanitarian Aid left Tunisia for Gaza

Ships carrying humanitarian aid for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have set sail from Tunisia after several days of delays.

“The fleet that set off from Barcelona is already at sea, and the Tunisian ships are now setting sail in phases,” the Global Relief Flotilla said in a statement.

The statement added that ships from Italy and Greece would join them later, AFP reported.

At least 18 ships set sail from Catania in southern Italy on Saturday, and two more left Greece yesterday to join them.

“When our governments fail to act, then we have no choice but to take matters into our own hands,” Swedish activist Greta Thunberg said before boarding a ship in the port of Bizerte, in northern Tunisia.

About 20 ships that set off from Barcelona gathered in Bizerte.
