The signing of the agreement on financial assistance to cities and municipalities for the repair of damage caused by floods, in the total amount of 50 million BAM from the Budget of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for this year, will be held today at the headquarters of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo.
The agreements on the intended use of the allocated funds will be signed with the mayors of the municipalities of Jablanica, Fojnica, Kiseljak and Kreševo, as well as the mayors of Konjic and Mostar.
The signing of the agreement will be attended by the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić, and the Deputy Prime Ministers of the Federation Toni Kraljević and Vojin Mijatović, as well as the Secretary of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Edita Kalajdžić.
Let us recall that 27 people died in the floods that hit parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the night of October 3-4, 2024.
Donja Jablanica was the most affected, where a torrent of water and rocks claimed 19 lives.
Konjic is one of the municipalities most affected by last year’s floods, after Jablanica. Five people died in this municipality.
A year later, the consequences of the floods are also visible in Fojnica, where three people died.
The devastating floods, accompanied by landslides and rockfalls, caused enormous material damage and left behind tragic consequences. Numerous houses, roads and bridges were destroyed.
A year later, many affected families are still living in containers, while some roads are still barely passable.
