Members of the BiH Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) arrested six officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) of BiH, suspected of abuse of official position, in the “Brand” operation, confirmed SIPA spokesman Luka Miladinović for BHRT. Searches were conducted this morning in Tuzla, Bijeljina, Gradačac, Lukavac and Donji Žabari, on the order of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH. The investigation refers to the suspects who are employees of the Indirect Taxation Administration, employed in the Group for Prevention of Misdemeanors and Smuggling of the ITA Regional Office in Tuzla, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH announced. The Prosecutor’s Office stated that during the investigation, evidence was collected that the suspects who are employees of the Group for the Prevention of Misdemeanors and Smuggling, committed corrupt crimes by receiving gifts or other forms of benefit, in order not to take official actions they had to take, in order to detect illegality during the import of goods into the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
