The Embassy of Spain in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), on the occasion of the celebration of that country’s National Day, is organizing Spanish Culture Week in different cities, thereby emphasizing friendly relations and the desire for cooperation between the two countries, and confirming its commitment to the promotion of Spanish culture in BiH.
The program begins today in Sarajevo in cooperation with the Dansar Festival and the event “Gran Gala Flamenco”, which presents a fusion of flamenco and sevdalinka.
This year’s MESS on October 4th will open with a contemporary and highly quality stage production – the Spanish play “Thauma”, directed by Magda Puig Torres and Andreu Martinez Costa.
Between October 2nd and 5th, the Embassy will join the Pravo Ljudski Festival, within which Laura Alhach will hold several workshops on research work dealing with film, memory, and motherhood.
In Mostar on October 4th and 5th, the Embassy of Spain is supporting the MoStrip festival, dedicated to comics and illustration, in which the artist Rosa Calvo Buiza is also participating, known for her work within the “Club of (In)visible Women”, an initiative aimed at providing a platform for women in the world of art.
In Sarajevo, the Day of Spanish Film will also be marked on October 6th with the screening of the film “Tasio” by director Montxo Armendariz.
With this event, the new cultural hall of the Embassy will be officially opened – a space open to the public, which will serve as a meeting place for future cultural activities, exhibitions, screenings, and workshops.
“This is the first time the Embassy is opening this type of space, which will enable closer contact with citizens and the offering of a more regular cultural program,” stated the Embassy of Spain in BiH.
In Banja Luka, Spain is a partner of the International Youth Theater Festival, where on October 7th, the Spanish troupe Maria Andres will perform the play “Fragil”.
Spanish Culture Week reaches its peak on October 9th with a reception on the occasion of Spain’s National Day, which will be marked on October 12th – the date that symbolizes the meeting of two worlds after the arrival of Christopher Columbus in America in 1492.
The Embassy of Spain in BiH emphasizes that in this way it confirms its desire to be an active and accessible cultural actor in BiH, promoting dialogue and mutual understanding through art and culture.
