Spanish Movies to be projected at the Meeting Point Cinema in April

The 23rd edition of the Spanish Cinema Series, organized by the Embassy of Spain in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in cooperation with the Meeting Point Cinema, will be held from April 10 to 14 in Sarajevo. The audience will have the opportunity to watch five Spanish feature films in their original versions with subtitles in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The program at the Meeting Point Cinema on Thursday, April 10, will be opened by the film “El Olivo” (The Olive) by director Icíar Bollaín. The film follows the headstrong and courageous girl Alma, who sets off on a journey from the east coast of Spain to Germany to retrieve an ancient olive tree that means a lot to her ailing grandfather, who was uprooted and sold by his family 12 years ago against his will.

On Friday, April 11, the program will feature the film “Historias lamentables” (Lamentable Stories), directed by Javier Fesser. The comedy brings four individual stories of seemingly incompatible characters.

Saturday, April 12th is reserved for the film “Pig” (Cerdita), directed by Carlota Pereda and the story of Sara, a girl who suffers daily insults from her surroundings because of her weight. A sudden kidnapping case in the village changes everyday life in which the fate of her kidnapped friends depends on Sara.

On Sunday, April 13th, Daniel Calparsor’s film “Rob the Thief” (Cien años de perdón), an action thriller about a bank robbery that goes wrong, will be on the program.

This year’s Spanish Cinematography Cycle will close on Monday, April 14th with Asghar Farhadia’s film “Everybody Knows” (Todos lo saben), starring Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem, announced the Embassy of Spain in BiH.

Admission is free, and screenings start at 8 p.m.
