A special session of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska (NSRS) on the election of a new entity government is underway in Banja Luka.

The MPs adopted the proposed agenda, and will also consider the program of the candidates for the President of the Government of the Republic of Srpska, the election of the President of the Government of the RS and the election of members.

After that, the solemn oath-taking of the President and members of the Government of the Republika Srpska is scheduled.

Željka Cvijanović, a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, also attended the session.

Previously, a special session of the National Assembly of the RS was held, where the resignation of Prime Minister Sava Minic was accepted, and thus the resignation of the entire Government of the RS.

On January 15, Minić returned the mandate of the prime minister of the RS, and the acting president of the RS, Ana Trišić Babić, informed him that he would be nominated again.

Let us remind you that on September 2, 2025, the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska (NSRS) elected a new Government of the RS, headed by Sava Minić, despite the fact that the proposal for the mandate came from Milorad Dodik after he was handed a final verdict, which prohibits him from holding public office for the next six years.

At the session scheduled for January 22, the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina should make a decision on the constitutionality of the Government of the RS, appointed after Milorad Dodik was deprived of the mandate of entity president, Srna news agency writes.
