There was an evening of joy in Mostar that was brought by singer from Vojvodina Đorđe Balašević, who on Saturday held a spectacular concert in front of around 10.000 fans at the Bijeli Brijeg Stadium.

After eight years, Balašević with his band “Panonska Mornarica” held a concert in the city on the Neretva that was called “A smile is back in Mostar’, which was attended by many fans of his music from BiH and countries in the region.

“They wonder how many songs I will sing? I tell them: It does not matter how many songs I will sing, but rather how many you will sing tonight’’, said Balašević to an enthusiastic audience.

Balašević, also known as the ‘panonski mornar’, (Pannonian sailor), kept his promise. The concert lasted nearly four hours. He sang his biggest hits such as „Neki novi klinci“, „Sevdalinka“, „Ne lomite mi bagrenje“, „Galicija“, „Djevojka sa čardaš nogama“, „D mol“, and the concert was something that Mostar will remember for a long time. The rain that lasted for around 20 minutes did not stop the fans from enjoying this true musical spectacle.

By stating that “a bridge is being built on both sides’’, Balašević sent a message of peace and love from the city on the Neretva.

The public sang along to his hits and each song was accompanied by a thunderous applause.

As four hours was not enough for him to sing all of his hits, Balašević promised that he would return to Mostar.
