The US State Department welcomed the decision of the members of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska to elect Ana Trišić Babić as acting president of RS.
“This decision is the result of US-led efforts to defuse the crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Brendan Hanrahan, a senior official in the State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, told Reuters.
“The US welcomes the action of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska that reaffirms stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It will also set the course for a constructive partnership with the US based on mutual interests, economic potential, and shared prosperity,” Hanrahan said.
