Two young and talented men from Sarajevo now live their dreams in a true sense of that word, because they managed to connect what seems impossible – sports and patisserie – football and cakes.
They are former members of the National Futsal Team of BiH, and they fell in love with the ball as little boys. They were quite successful in that, which is showed by the fact that they brought bronze medal and the third place in Europe to their country, which was the first football medal for BiH.
After completing their school, the brothers wanted more knowledge, so they decided to look for it abroad – in France and Italy – and to learn from the world’s best pastry makers.
“We learned from top master-chefs such as Cristoph Neel, and then we added a secret ingredient to some of our best recipes. That is how our delicacies were made. In France, we received diplomas from VKV pastry masters, in Bologna as well, but for ice cream – gelato. Since we do not like copying others, we decided to make our own cakes. Our offer depends on the season, because we want to keep up with seasonal ingredients. Of course, we also took into consideration the climate in which we live, so we are making mostly chocolate cakes combine with other ingredients,” explained Ervin.
They offer 14 kinds of cakes that are prepared from the finest and the highest quality ingredients in their restaurant “Twin Cakes” in Sarajevo, which was opened last year.
“We get our chocolate from Belgium, cocoa from Spain and coffee and tea from Italy and Germany. The secret ingredient of some of our desserts are dried flowers, such as saffron and rose petals, which we also find abroad. We learned from the best and we are planning to keep it up. We want to show our citizens what are the best delights and cakes,” said Elvin.
“Amar Osim is our regular visitor, as well as our former selector Mehmed Bazdarevic, Mirsad Bektic, tennis player Mirza Basic. Our famous singer Halid Beslic regularly orders cakes for his grandchildren. Our regular guests are also Dino Merlin, Fahrudin Pecikoza, and the former Prime Minister of the FBiH Nermin Niksic, who always orders the raspberry cake. Actor Nick Nolte was delighted with our ice cream that we prepared for him, and fashion designer Amela Radan comes often as well.
