Lit up lights are an invitation and hope for everyone whose home is not warm, where heating does not work, for those who do not have wood, coal… and all of that regardless of their religion.
The doors of this Sarajevo mosque are open to everyone.
As we already wrote, imam of the mosque in Stara Breka, Muhamed Velic, already in the early days of the Siberian cold that stroke the capital of BiH, opened the door of the mosque and invited everyone to come. Regional media wrote about that and recognized the true “Sarajevo spirit” of goodness.
It was not in vain because Sarajevo desire to help will never die. Velic, who wanted to put acts of fellow citizens in front of his acts, says that the mosque is getting full in the evening.
“They come after Isha-prayer (Muslim night prayer), spend the night and leave in the morning, and some of them come during the day to warm up. One of the fellow citizens who came here was the elderly lady, who has her own apartment in Bistrik, but electricity was switched off. Someone was stealing her electricity and a huge bill came, which she could not pay,” told Velic.
But in the mosque also come many citizens who have warm homes – to help, and above all, share some kind words.
“They bring food, something some money, but most often food, blankets, and things like that,” added Velic.
How you can help? If you see someone – and you cannot give them a warm home, take them to the mosque – Pacadzi hadzi Mustafe Nesuha in Sarajevo neighborhood of Stara Breka.
