Strong Earthquake hits Portugal

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake shook most of Portugal, according to local media.

The earthquake, the strongest since 1969, was felt both in the capital Lisbon and in the second largest Portuguese city Porto, according to the public broadcaster “RTP”.

It should be noted that no major material damage was caused by the earthquake, and no victims were recorded.

Referring to the Civil Protection authorities, the public broadcaster stated that no call for emergency situations had been made, although citizens were asked to respect the instructions of the competent state and local authorities.
