Strong Earthquake strucks Japan

An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale has struck Japan, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.

The epicentre was 76 kilometres southeast of the city of Miyakonojo, on the Japanese island of Kyushu, at a depth of 13.9 kilometres.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or a tsunami threat.
