The Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and the BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Zlatko Lagumdžija received in Sarajevo yesterday the Ambassador of Cuba to BiH Julio Cesar Cancio Ferrera, whose seat is in Budapest.
Lagumdžija welcomed Ambassador Ferrera to BiH and wished him a successful mandate that would result in further improvement of bilateral relations between BiH and Cuba.
In this regard, he expressed the interest of BiH to intensify dialogue and contacts through the exchange of visits by officials at a high level.
Lagumdžija spoke to Ferrero about the current political and economic opportunities in BiH, and the foreign policy position and priorities of our country. He spoke of the importance of parliamentary cooperation of BiH and Cuba, and in this regard recalled that the BiH Parliemnt in 2008 named appointed a group of friendship with countries in Central and South America, which was named in the new session of the BiH Parliament.
Among other things, Lagumdžija expressed the interest of BiH to intensify the activities related to the acquisition and review of contracts that the former Yugoslavia concluded with Cuba and the new bilateral agreement between BiH and Cuba.
He proposed that representatives of Cuba participate in a cultural manifestation in BiH, strengthen cooperation in the area of tourism given the potential of the two countries, and establish cooperation in the fields of medicine, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
Ambassador Ferrer said that he would seek to contribute to further strengthening cooperation of BiH and Cuba, and informed minister Lagumdžija of the current opportunities in Cuba and the country’s foreign policy position.
During the meeting they welcomed the successful cooperation of the two countries at a multilateral level and the mutual exchange of support to candidacies in positions in various international organization, and expressed readiness to continue cooperation.
