Sweden will co-sponsor the Draft UN resolution, which should declare July 11 as the “International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica 1995”, and in that way will honor the victims and families of the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica.

“The genocide in Srebrenica, which took place in 1995, was confirmed in the judgments of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the International Court of Justice.

Sweden therefore co-sponsors the Draft United Nations Resolution on Srebrenica in order to honor the victims and families of the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica,” it is said from the Embassy of Sweden in BiH.

They emphasized that the genocide in Srebrenica that happened in 1995 must never be forgotten or minimized.

“We must remember and honor the victims, contribute to reconciliation and learn from history. It is unacceptable to deny the existence of horrific crimes committed during the conflict, just as it is unacceptable to glorify the individuals found guilty of these crimes. The General Assembly is expected to of the UN on May 2 to declare about the resolution,” said the Embassy of Sweden.

The resolution on Srebrenica was supported by the United States of America, Italy, France, and Germany, Albania, Chile, Finland, Ireland, Jordan, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Rwanda, Slovenia, Turkey and North Macedonia are also on this list. .
