Taxi Driver was arrested in Japan for deliberately running over a Pigeon

A Tokyo taxi driver was arrested for deliberately driving into a flock of pigeons and killing one, the police said.

Taxi driver Atsushi Ozawa, 50, said he was angry because the pigeons were on the road.

He “used his car to kill a common pigeon, which is not a game animal” last month, and was arrested on Sunday, December 3rd, for violating the law on the protection of wild animals, a Tokyo police spokesman said.

Ozawa stepped on the gas when the traffic light turned green and drove his taxi into a bevy of birds at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour.

The sound of the engine prompted a surprised passerby to report the incident to the police.

The police asked a veterinarian to perform an autopsy on the unfortunate pigeon, and he determined that the cause of death was a traumatic shock.

The police called the taxi driver’s behavior “very malicious” for a professional driver and decided to arrest him, local media reports.
